High Speed Construction Hoists and Engineering Ingenuity
UBS specializes in high-speed construction hoists complete with structural setback systems and aluminum common platforms. Our engineering expertise allows us to accomplish projects all over the world such as, Canary Wharf (UK), The Olympia Ritz Carlton (Barcelona), as well as The Statue of Liberty in New York's Harbor.
UBS’s engineering ingenuity first revolutionized the way buildings were hoisted in the 1980’s
During the construction of the ambitious Battery Park City/World Financial Center project UBS introduced its patented Aluminum Backstructure System that allowed multiple hoists to be clustered in one location thereby improving cost, efficiency, and constructability for the overall project. This cutting-edge technology became the standard by which all future high-rise buildings in New York City (as well as select high-rise projects in Texas, California, Connecticut, New Jersey, and later Europe) came to rely upon.
Twenty years later, UBS introduced the next generation of hoisting system technologically superior to any other in the history of the trade. With safety and efficiency paramount for the construction of Time Warner World Headquarters in the crowded confines of Columbus Circle, UBS's new hoisting system allowed approximately 90% of the installation to be performed at ground level, greatly reducing “time in the tower at height” risk for the project's workers.
By assembling the hoisting modules (pods) on the ground, the advantages are obvious:
- The critical "time in the tower at height" risk is minimized.
- All work is performed in a controlled, safeguarded environment.
- Safety systems are available and in close proximity to work being installed.
