A 352-foot monument and the world’s largest Doric column, Perry’s Victory & International Peace Memorial is located in Put-in-Bay, Ohio. It rises over Lake Erie, just five miles from the longest undefended border in the world. The monument was closed to the public in 2006 due to the deterioration of the Observation Deck. The National Parks Service solicited bids for repairs that would require substantial scaffolding.
The hoist and scaffold platform provided by UBS allowed access to the Observation Deck, Penthouse Level, and lantern. In addition, the scaffold accommodated the rigging of granite stone weighing up to 3,000 lbs. needed for the repairs.
