Project Description
138 East 50th Street is located between Third Ave and Lexington Ave in Manhattan's Turtle Bay neighborhood. Also known as The Centrale, construction began on this skyscraper back in 2016 and was completed in 2019. After topping out at 803 ft, The Centrale is now the 19th tallest skyscraper in New York City. UBS began shed construction and hoist installation in August 2016. Sidewalk bridge ran 16 ft high and 140 ft long on East 50 Street. Two sliding gates and two 20 ft high swing gates were included in this span. Plywood fence installed up along the 49th street side of the site along with an additional 50 ft of lumber and concrete barricades. Hoist installation began two months later in October, with two Hoists put up on a common platform. The southern face of the skyscraper included a 7,000 lb. capacity dual hoist, which serviced from the ground floor to the 64th floor, covering 800 ft. The western face included a 7,000 lb. capacity single hoist, which serviced from the second sub-cellar up to the 64th floor, covering 825 ft.
